Family

Family - News:
On March, 18th in 2009, "Großmutter" unexpecially died in the age of 92 years. Unexpecially because she didn´t suffer because of a desease, she had no pain in anything, didn´t take pills... At noon she walked by feet to her small group with other seniors of our church to meet them, sat down, talked to some friends, and suddenly laid her head back, breathed once a time and then neither more...

Now we are practising to live without her...



Our family is about 8 persons:
Simon (22.10.79), Hanna (30.01.82), Jonas (11.11.83), Christian (05.09.85), Judith (18.05.87), Justin (26.05.90), Ekkehart (03.06.56) und Sabine (02.04.56) .
Since 2000, July Simon and Tanja (21.02.1977) are married. Then in May 2005 Hanna and Jeff (17.08.1975) married. He is an American. The second daughter in law is Romina 02.02.1990). Christian and her married in June, 14th, 2008.

Who else is living in our house? Since September 2004 Martin, our nephew from Flensburg, is living in our house. Since October 2004 he studied in Bochum, which is one of the next towns to Mülheim. Now he is an ingenieur for machines and still living in our house. Also Judith and Justin are still living at home.
Simon and Tanja have their home in Mülheim in Uhlandstr. 23. Jeff and Hanna moved in September of 2006 to USA, Christian and Romina are living with their little son in Oberhausen, the next town to ours. And Jonas moved in December 2008 to an own little hut nearby.

Often there are young people from our youthchurch in our house. It´s their meeting point here. So there is no longer a family but a community with young people. But we enjoy this, also when our refrigerator often shows a leck of food...

The beginning of erverything...
"Everything" gegan in 1978, when Ekkehart and me, Sabine, married in July, 21st in the north of Germany where we are from. In that time Ekkehart was studying theology for to become a pastor. I first was working as a bookseller in a bookstore, but then began to study theology, too. One year later our first son, Simon, was born. That was in october, 1979 in Hamburg. Because we didn´t want to have a single child for a long time, we desided to get the next one, what was Hanna (in January, 30th, 1982) And not much later Jonas was born in November 11th, 1983. Was not so easy to study any longer with two children but when the third came I desided not to finish studying but to stay at home for education of our children. That was the time when Ekkehart had finished his studies and began to work as a pastor in Stade, not far away from Hamburg. In Stade our next children were born: When I was pregnand with Judith, Christian (born in september, 1985) came into our family. We adopted him at the age of 5 some years later. Judith was born in May, 1987, and three years later our last one, Justin, in May 1990.

In 1993 we moved to Mülheim in the "Ruhr Area" because Ekkehart wantet to change his working place. In Mülheim the children grew up, got new friends and relationships, and life became easier for me. I could help in the church, and I liked to get more responsibilities there.
In time I am the church secretary, working half a day in the offive of our chruch. My husband is my boss!

Since 2007 there are two grandchildren: Paul, son of Christian and Romina, and Samira, daughter of Simon and Tanja. They are so cute! In time they learned running so that they experience the world step by step on thier own feet - exhausting for everybody, but - so cute!

Church

We are members of "Christ Church of Mulheim", short form is CGM ; we are happy to be part of this church, and that is since 1993.
Ekkehart is the senior pastor of our church. I (Sabine) am working as a secreary at the church office. Also I am athe leader of a women´s smallgroup and the member of a second smallgroup. In the service I am part of the moderation - team. And I am the administrator of the church website http://www.cgmuelheim.de/
In march 2002 JUMP-Youth-Church was founded. They have their own youth pastor since 2005. Today there are regularly youth services once in a month on sunday night. The name of these services is C-You (that means "See you!") If you want to have a look on their website please click JUMP

What we believe
We are committed in several activities and ministries in our church. We are doing this because of our faith in Jesus Christ. He is our Lord and is in control of our lives. And so we want to do what is in his will.
We want to explain in which we are believing:
We believe that God has shown us through his son Jesus Christ who he is. He showed us that Christ himself forgave every man an womam thier sins because he died and rose again. Now ervey person has free entry to the great GOD, who is our father in heaven , if they accept this way Jesus went on for us. He is living in us through the Holy Spirit. We believe that this is guilty for us in personality, and we believe that he forgave us everything we did against his will. We believe that he is loving us more thanwe can understand it. We wantto show him our love while asking what is his will for us und to do what he wnats to do us. We want to live our daily live in his holy will. Our experiences show us that his presence is a fact in our daily live. We experience his help and love in everything what happens to us.
It is our desire that many people will experience this wonderful love of God, his forgiveness und his help, and we wish to be part of the plan of God to help people to find the way to their heavenly father!

Projects

Books

1997 Ekkehart and Sabine wrote a little book with the title "Warum sagst du nichts?", what is "Why don´t you say anything?" It says something about the difficulty of talking to one another as a married couple, specially the speechlessness of the husband and how to learn to talk to one another in an effective way. We wrote down our own story and what we´d learn from one another.
1998 we wrote another little book, some poems as blessings for the wedding day. The content are poems about love, marriage and getting older together. The book´s name is "Segenswünsche zur Hochzeit".
2003: "Holpern, stolpern, weitergehen - about four problems in the lives of women. This book Sabine wrote as a result of many talks to women and her own experiences and how to get out of these problems.
November 2003: A book about children and their different way of playing and how you can imagine what kind of child is your child. Parents have to imagine in which way they have to handle thier child because "Everey child is different" - How you can learn to understand your child in a better way: "Jedes Kind ist anders!" - Wie Sie lernen können, Ihr Kind besser zu verstehen


Seminaries
Ekkehart and Sabine are teaching about education und marriage. We do that in our church but also in several other churches or during greater events in Germany.


Websites
Something, me, sabine, like to do is administrating and creating webpages. I `m used in cms, what is content management system, typo3. I`m responsible for the website of our church and out whole congregation, also some other small projects.

travel diaries

We like to travel - all over the world! Of some of our trips I wrote a diary - that´s for us to remember the nice time but also for our friends who want to know what experiences we had. In time there are online diaries, The first of the trip of Judith and me to Djerba/Tunesia, one of the trip to Uganda at the beginning of 2006 and the other trip to Indonesia in July 2006.
